Immersive theatre intensive
CONCRETE is an annual summer intensive in the heart of New York City, presented in partnership with La MaMa Theatre — home of legendary experimental theatre-maker Ellen Stewart. The program explores the hyphenated genre of dance-physical theatre, examining how these techniques function with kinesthetic awareness in immersive settings. This proximity-based research interrogates the cultural bias embedded in nearness, and the shifting relationship between spectator and performer.

This modular intensive facilitates career development, connecting professional and pre-professional dance artists with current directors and makers across the US and international physical and immersive theatre scenes.
Transformative, rigorous, and challenging, CONCRETE is built for professionals and college students 18 and older. Each week culminates in a fully immersive production maintaining a ten-to-twenty performer/spectator ratio.
