The course offered as part of CONCRETE consists of three vital components for performer training:
~ ensemble building
~ informed impulse
~ text analysis & interpretation
Incorporating physical, impulsive exercises, including Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints, we build the performer’s awareness of their own physical life, the environment around them, and the other performers in their company. This leads to a heightened sense of perception and, therefore, more opportunities and choices the performer can bring in their work.
We then delve into textual exploration of contemporary plays. This requires discernment and conversation to understand the circumstances and relationships - and most importantly - how the actor uses their informed impulses to bring the playwright’s words to life onstage. The hope is that through rigorous physical training and intellectual stimulation, the new CONCRETE performer is on their way to building and strengthening their holistic Self.
